The federal civil rights lawsuit filed against a Minnesota municipality, county sheriff, police chief, prosecutor, public defender’s office, and other involved parties was described by a Ferguson resident as trying to prevent the proverbial ‘Ferguson, Missouri’ before it happens. “After somebody’s dead, there’s always a ‘Holmseth v. City of East Grand Forks’. There’s always some case they look back at where somebody tried to stop it. [East Grand Forks] is Ferguson when it was a baby,” said a Missouri reader.
